Christmas 2011

Time has run away with us again and Christmas day is fast approaching. All the usual things for me, cooking up a storm, last minute preparations round the house, and fingers crossed for a sunny windless day so that the 15 we will be can sit around in the sunshine outside instead of being packed into a smallish space inside. Then, of course, the looking back and ruminating on what went before, what was good and what can change for the better, what to walk away from and what to hold near. It’s a funny time to be doing this when everything is sunny and the garden full of flowers – how much more in synch with the world when celebrating in the winter which is such a good time for brooding over new beginnings and old deaths!

I so enjoyed the previous postcard swap that I have joined another one – more fun is definitely required in this next year. This time there are 10 mixed media cards to make which will be a nice little challenge for me, and looking for the mail in my letterbox will be a delight! Here’s the link for the details – you need to look at December 16th’s entry. This will be great!

Speaking of letterboxes, I finally finished, and my husband mounted on the fence, my gorgeous mosaic letterbox. It has been a bit of a mission but I decided I couldn’t stand our old rusty one a second longer and with all the earthquake carry-on here it seemed a good time to put a bright face on it and sparkle!

About joslittlepictures

I frequently have trouble trying to decide how to describe myself. Am I an artist who makes jewellery too, or am I a jewellery artist who draws, paints, makes prints, takes photos, makes gardens, plays with book binding, and occasionally working in stone and mosaic? Then there is my delight in words as well. And I love cooking. What I don't do so well is housework, constant order, or keeping to schedules. I make lists, often starting with something I have completed just so I can start by ticking something off!
